considering the bios has always been set to default other than some boot order changes or when i try to overclock, when it fails the overclock it just resets to default values anyway.Xonotic - free fast arena shooter for Linux. ![]() i reset the cmos and now its working fine again! Thanks!! the cpu for some reason was being throttled or something and i have no clue why. CPU-Z Showed it as 1.5ghz, so i tried overclocking via bios and nothing changed. core speed across all cores wouldn't change even though task manager showed 4ghz and amd overdrive showed the overclock. Not too sure why but my cpu was being locked to aroung 1.5ghz even though i was overclocking. Memory Dual channel, DRAM Frequency.Īnd lastly get yourself a Benchmark test and see if you get a score that is compareable to the score others have. Get yourself CPU-z check if your settings are ok Core Speed. Well it looks like you know your problem, it looks like your CPU. I'd be willing to do the bios mod, do you have any recommendations on what to get for it? With the overclock, 4.5ghz is barely stable, i set to 1.45v, if i go any higher it won't work, i can't OC in bios at all, i have to use amd overdrive to OC my cpu and its voltage, when i change the voltage even by the slightest amount it refuses to post, setting past 1.45v just results in a bluescreen, if i go any lower it bluescreens, i've tried 4.6ghz but as soon as i put load on it then windows crashes. Yes, i tried putting more load towards the gpu, maxing out the games in 1440p and 4k, but it doesn't take any load off the cpu, it only increases the gpu's usage and the fps remains the same. You may also want to bios mod the board to a m5a99fx pro with a 4$ usb bios programmer due to asus bios suck ass on lowend boards, no risk of bricking due to bios programmer but you may deem the effort not worth it, may let you run higher clocks but prob not by much Nothing will die even if you set mobo max volt as asus dont let you kill your hardware so dont worry about killing anything, but degradation is a possibility with high enough volt so just find the highest safe volts on the internet and add +0.05v to it as most ppl are quite conservative with volt I also suggest ocing those since you want every bit of performance that crappy fx cpu has got. I assume you put a crap ton of the load on the gpu by setting high settings or something so the crappy cpu is not too much on an issue, you should be running higher settings to put load on the gpuĪlso run an oc on the cpu, 4.5g minimum but pref 4.8g+, max volt ~1.5v but these are toasty cpus so assume max ~1.4v unless you can keep em under 80c above 1.4v, theres also other stuff like bclk oc, ht link oc, etc. Yes i know the gpu is bottlenecked and i don't really mind it, it run amazing 90% of the time (Yes i know the gpu is bottlenecked and i don't really mind it, it run amazing 90% of the time) I've gone as far as overclocking the cpu and gpu both to see if it would gain any performance and it did absolutely nothing aside from getting hotter. ![]() What gives? my cpu usage in gta v is sitting around 80 - 100 % whilst my gpu is barely hitting 10% usage the others my cpu and gpu are both reaching near 100%. Nothing has updated or changed since i was last playing at higher fps. GTA V, i could play it maxed out with the natural vision graphics mod around 90-100fps, RDR2, high to maxed out around 70ish and so on, but now games are sitting around 20fps or less with the lowest settings. Well, suddenly games like GTA V, RDR2, Dirt 5, Far cry 6 and so on have been extremely laggy these past couple of days even cranking them down to the lowest settings and it lags horribly. i'm probably going to be criticized for my specs but its been working fine for what i need so i don't care lol
